The fund-raising event will be held for the third time in Leeton on March 14 and 15, with swimmers of all strengths encouraged to take part.
As part of the event teams raise funds for the MS Australia Go for Gold scholarship program.
In doing so, each team taking part in the event must have one swimmer in the water at all times throughout the 24-hour period.
MS Mega Swim Leeton organiser Brian Munro said more swimmers were needed to take part this year.
“We’ve got seven teams so far and they all need people to help fill out their numbers,” he said.
“The beauty of it is you don’t need to be the best swimmer.
“You can dog paddle, backstroke, freestyle or even float your way down.
“As long as each team as someone in the water for the 24 hours.”
The event has enjoyed success in Leeton in its first two outings, raising thousands of dollars for the cause.
Mr Munro said there was a fun element to the event.
“There’s always a really great atmosphere as the hours tick by … the comraderie is there,” he said.
“We have Rotary on the barbecue, so swimmers get two free meals during the course of the event.
“There’s spot prizes throughout the 24-hours and prizes for best dressed.
“It’s a really fun event and we hope people support it again this year.”
The Go for Gold scholarships are awarded to people living with multiple sclerosis, who display a great need and potential in various aspects of life.
“It can be for a whole range of things,” Mr Munro said.
“It’s used to help people achieve different goals, whether it’s travelling somewhere to learn new skills or having extra aids that help them with their life.
“It’s a really good cause.”
Mr Munro also encouraged those not physically taking part in the event to do their bit.
“We’ve got the opening ceremony at noon (on March 14), so we would love some support for this first swimmers,” he said.
“Spectators are welcome throughout the entire swim.
“It would be great to have people done there cheering everyone on towards the end too.”
