The school’s P&C president Scott Hughes said the 2015 event was bigger than last year’s.
Gala day this year had plenty to see and do, including the new team penning event, a sheep shearing competition, various stalls, a grand parade and more.
Mr Hughes described the day as “excellent”.
“The school really put its best foot forward,” Mr Hughes said.
“Everyone was commenting on how great the school looked and how well the students did on the day in presenting themselves.
“It was fantastic to see so much support there.
“I think this year’s crowd was bigger than last year’s for sure.”
As is always the case, the school’s annual beach carnival was held the day before on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River.
“I think it really helped everyone to get into the spirit of the weekend and get excited for gala day,” Mr Hughes said.
“The highlights for me were the team penning because it was a new event, the stalls and just seeing everyone taking part.”
Gala day is the P&C’s major fund-raiser of the year.
“We’ll sit down in a week or two and discuss how everything went and where we need to improve for next year,” Mr Hughes said.
“It’s imperative we keep getting the support we do for gala day.
“We need to always be raising as much funds as possible for the school because it all helps.”
The combination of the beach carnival and gala day means people that travel to attend often stay the entire weekend.
“Leeton is always booked out every time gala day is on,” Mr Hughes said.
“We would have had people there from three or four states this year.
“It’s definitely a good thing not just for the school, but also for Leeton.
“People book a year in advance.”
Mr Hughes said the committee would continue to work on ways to include the wider community in the event.
“We would love to see more community members come along because it is for everyone,” he said.
