Shed members held an open day on March 18 in a bid to encourage residents to check out the Brobenah Road facility and what it has to offer.
Shed chairman Jock Hamilton said it was the most successful open day to date.
“We’ve held them before and sometimes we haven’t had that great of a response,” Mr Hamilton said.
“With this one we had about 50 people there, so it was very successful.
“People were coming through and checking out what was happening and the facility.
“There was morning tea and a barbecue lunch, so I would say everyone really enjoyed it.”
Residents from the Alf Herrmann Lodge and Assumption Villa also attended.
Members held demonstrations of projects they were working on throughout the day.
“We had the lathe going, there was some interest in the restoration of different things.
“There were a lot of ladies that come through this time as well.”
As a result of the open day, the Men’s Shed also picked up three new members.
“That was really good … we are always after new members,” Mr Hamilton said.
“I think people enjoyed taking a look around at their own pace.
“I’d say we’ll hold another (open day).”
Opened in 2009, the shed provides a place for men to gather, work and tinker at their own pace in their own space. The shed is open every Monday to Thursday from 10am.
