There are four services planned throughout Leeton shire, meaning residents have no excuse not to attend at least one and pay their respects to the fallen and those still serving in Australia’s armed forces today.
While this year has extra special meaning due to the 100th anniversary, I would hope the same interest in Anzac Day remains next year.
It is important the tradition of Anzac Day is carried on through the many Australian and New Zealand generations to come.
After all, where would we be without those people that laid their lives down so we could live the life we do today?
We definitely live in the “lucky country” and these people – our ancestors – are the ones we should be thanking.
Anzac Day is the perfect opportunity to do this.
Each Anzac Day we should also be remembering those men and women that served in other conflicts throughout the years.
Whether you agree or disagree with those conflicts is a separate issue on its own. These men and women were protecting our country and our right to lead their lives we do.
So, each Anzac Day, we should be keeping this in mind and thanking our fallen, veterans and current armed forces for their efforts.
