The respect shown during the various Anzac Day services on Saturday was just fantastic.
Huge crowds turned out for the dawn service and main march in Leeton.
It is always truly amazing to be part of a large crowd during an Anzac Day service.
When the Last Post sounds and the crowd falls silent really is something else.
To have a minute silence and be able to hear the clang of metal against the flag pole is surreal when so many people are gathered in the one place.
There were many special touches added to this year’s Anzac Day services in the shire.
Of particular mention was the welcome to country delivered by William Ingram and the playing of a didgeridoo at the dawn service.
The RSL Sub-branch should be commended for thinking of these extras that have already received plenty of positive feedback.
It was a big year with the marking of 100 years since the landing at Gallipoli in 1915.
Those part of the organising committee for the day should feel proud.
All ceremonies in the shire reflected on the sacrifice made and the RSL Sub-branch made sure this message was put across.
They have done the town proud and indeed the fallen.
A job well done.
