The Crows failed to get the start they were after, which wasn’t helped by inaccurate kicking in front of goal in the first quarter.
The Hoppers on the other hand jumped out of the gate and kicked five goals in the first to have Leeton-Whitton on the back foot.
The Crows were only able to secure two goals for the game, with Danyan Evans booting the first and Lucas Meline slotting through the other.
After a long slog, the final score was 15.5 (95) to 2.9 (21).
Coach Dave Meline said there were no excuses for his side.
“We just didn’t turn up … Coolamon were definitely the better side on the day.
“They outplayed us. It was really disappointing.
“There’s probably only a couple of players that can hold their heads high. Our avenue to goal in the last fortnight has dried up, so that’s something we will be addressing.”
It was always going to be a tough day out for Leeton-Whitton, with the side going into the match down several key players.
Neil Irwin, who suffered an ankle injury in last weekend’s match against Collingullie-Glenfield Park, was a big out, while Brad Boots and Mitch Heaslip were also unavailable.
Bryce O’Garey, Mitch Hardie and Toby Conroy led the way for the Crows, who have the bye this week before finishing with games against Turvey Park and Narrandera.
“It’s a much-needed bye for us,” Meline said. “There’s definitely things we will be working on during the break.
“We haven’t played that well in the last fortnight. There is that mental aspect to it as well. We will need to address all of that before we take on Turvey because you can’t take anyone lightly.
“This year we’ve shown that we can match it with anyone, so we just need to get back to that.”
