The Ferrets are unsure what sort of team they will come up against on Saturday.
The Cougars have nominated three teams to take part in this season’s Leeton and District Cricket Association competition.
However, it is believed their A grade side could be lacking numbers this week.
Ferrets captain Sam Alampi said his team was also struggling for numbers for the first round match up.
“We’ll be missing a couple for different reasons,” he said.
“AJ (Adrian Axtill) is unavailable and I think Mitch Hardie and (new recruit) Luke Rimmer will be out studying for the HSC.
“We’ll definitely have a side, it’s just a matter of who it will be.”
This year the L&D CC has nominated A, B and C grade sides.
Alampi said it was pleasing to see younger players coming through the grades.
“We’re looking like having a really good C grade team, which is great,” he said.
“B grade we’re still looking a bit short I think.
“Anyone that is keen to have a bit of a hit and fun is definitely welcome to come down to training and see what it’s all about.
“We’d welcome any new players for B grade.”
The L&D CC finished the 2014-15 season on a high earlier this year when they took out the two-day premiership over the Narrandera Carpheads.
The Ferrets have a strong list in A grade and will no doubt be a contender for both titles this season.
Alampi said numbers at training had been solid.
“Again we’re not really going to know how it’s all looking until we are a couple of weeks in,” he said. “We’ve got a good list.”
He said the club would take each game as it comes.
“We’re not sure what sort of team will turn up for the Cougars,” Alampi said. “Either way we’ll need to bat out our overs and bowl well if we want to win.”
