This year students from Leeton High School, Leeton Public School, Gralee School and Parkview Public School all took to the stage in Sydney as part of the event.
This year marked the final time Schools Spectacular will be held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre after many years of raising the roof at the venue.
Schools Spectacular creative director Sonja Sjolander said described the 2015 event as a “huge success” and said it required a team effort to ensure each of the shows went smoothly.
“Everyone shines as a star,” Ms Sjolander said.
“And each of our stars will have something to remember forever.
“After 32 years, they were in the last Schools Spectacular at Sydney’s Entertainment Centre and they join likes of The Wiggles, Cold Chisel, John Farnham and Elton John for the last shows ever there.
“This was one of our best Schools Spectaculars ever, but there was a real buzz of excitement knowing we were making history.”
Leeton Public School principal Jayne Gill was equally impressed.
“It was great to see our students out on the floor as part of the choir and dancers performing alongside other students from across the state,” she said.
“The whole event was a wonderful endorsement of the NSW public education system.”
Leeton shire students were involved in a number of different performances and, from all reports, wowed the crowds with their talent at each of the shows.
Parkview Public School principal Travis Irvin said Schools Spectacular was a big opportunity for students each year.
“What an amazing experience our Schools Spectacular choir have just returned from in Sydney,” he said.
“Five days of wonderful performance experiences capped with three live shows in front of sell out crowds … (it) was certainly an amazing away to foster and inspire our talented Schools Spectacular choir.
“Well done to all of the children for their performances and a huge vote of thanks is extended to the staff and parents that gave their time to support and supervise our children during the experience.”
There were no doubt many parents and family members of students that would have enjoyed watching the performances, but were unable to attend. The 2015 event will again be shown on free-to-air television on Gem on Saturday at 12.30pm and will soon be available on the streaming service Nine Jumpin.
