The large wall of the Hairy Corner hairdressing business in Kurrajong Avenue was covered with graffiti by vandals sometime during the Christmas and New Year period.
The graffiti can be viewed from some distance.
The building currently has a tenant, with the landlord reportedly not impressed with the attack.
Amato Real Estate handles the tenancy at the location, with principle Gino Amato angered by the graffiti.
He said he had spoken with the owner of the building.
“I know he’s disappointed that people think it’s okay to do this to someone’s property,” Mr Amato said.
“We look after the majority of this building for the landlord, not all of it, but it’s just not called for. It’s disgraceful really.”
The Leeton Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also condemned the graffiti. President Graham Heffer said there was a need for Leeton Shire Council to purchase a graffiti removal kit for businesses to access in situations like this.
“Graffiti impacts on the health and well being of a community,” Mr Heffer said.
“Public spaces that are graffitied will often be avoided by legitimate users and, if the graffiti is racist or contains discriminatory themes, it can personally offend individuals or community groups.”
Mr Heffer suggested council remove graffiti immediately if it is located on its own building and infrastructure through a dedicated graffiti removal contractor.
As well as the introduction of free graffiti removal kits he was also hopeful council would work to develop partnerships with key organisations responsible for public assets, such as transport services and utility companies to maintain a consistent approach to graffiti management.
The chamber also views working with police to assist in detection of vandals and engaging with young people through community art projects a vital approach to preventing incidents.
Mr Amato said the landlord would be out of pocket to remove the graffiti. “It has been reported to the police, but he is dismayed by it,” he said.
