Hosted by Leeton High School, members of the Wiradjuri community were invited to take part in the event, with elder Jimmy Ingram performing a smoke cleansing ritual.
Miss Scott’s family and all attendees were invited to participate with all walking through the smoke that is believed to assist in warding off bad spirits. Mr Ingram said he was honoured to host the cleansing ceremony.
“On behalf of the Wiradjuri community and the wider community I would like to express my sadness at the loss of such a beautiful teacher,” he said.
“She came in to our midst and captured the hearts of everyone that knew and loved her.”
