The competition typically runs from about late October into November or December depending on the time frame.
However, organisers have this year made the decision to move the intertown competition between Leeton, Narrandera and Grifith to early next year.
This year Narrandera Stadium manager Lee Longford was tasked with organising the matches, but said it would now likely kick off in February.
“It’s been going for about six years now,” she said.
“There’s been people away and other things happen, which is why we never really got started in having it run this year.
“Hopefully in February it will be a better time for everyone.”
Last year Leeton took out the women’s competition, while it was Griffith that got the better of Leeton in the men’s division.
Each town typically takes it in turns to organise the event, but Leeton has handled the administration side of the competition for four years and Griffith the last two.
Leeton’s Beck McCallum was hopeful the town would be able to field two strong teams again in 2017.
“From what we hear about the junior competition, there are some real stars coming through,” she said.
“A lot of them enjoy playing at the senior level, so no doubt some of them will be given a shot as well next season.”
At this stage coaches for the two Leeton sides haven’t been officially announced, but it is understood Josh Clyne, who led the girls to a grand final win last year, will more than likely continue in the role.
