The young harness drivers took to Lin Gordon Paceway on December 26 for three races. It was their first outing in almost two months.
The minis were up first, with Zane Lemon of West Wyalong reminding all of his skill as a reinsman and Oprah’s speed on the track as they took out their opposition in the first race coming from backmarker to round everyone up.
Ryan Pitt had to settle for second with Little Secret and little brother Jed Driscoll steered Nana Smoke in for third.
Some shuffling took place with the handicapping prior to race two commencing, according to club member Julie Deeves.
“This time Jaxon Lemon saw the line first aboard Sunshine, followed in by Layla Forrest on Seven,” she said.
“Third place went to stablemate Little Midget with Shaiila Ogilvie holding the reins.”
Race three was a tight affair towards the line, with Porsha and Willie Wagtail fighting it out for the win.
It could easily have gone either way, but Ava Lemon recorded the win on Porsha, with Willie Wagtail driven by Siarne Deeves missing out by a whisker at the post.
Sunshine was next to finish behind them.
“Despite her efforts, Nikkita Smith missed out on a place with My Little Rocket, but this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing as this gave her the first choice of the lucky drivers prizes,” Deeves said.
Leeton mini trotters raced on Monday night during the Breeders Plate carnival.
Results to come.
