Liane Sayer-Roberts has been appointed by the NSW government as its nominee on the newly-formed Sydney School of Entrepreneurship board of directors.
The school is under construction and is a partnership between all universities and TAFEs in NSW. It has been backed by a $25 million grant from the state government.
When fully operational, the school will provide access to practical training, support, mentoring and co-curricular activities for up to 1000 high-performing students from across the state. It will enable them to collaborate and work on new business ventures in NSW.
Mrs Sayer-Roberts said with 46 per cent of Australian start-up businesses based in Sydney and NSW accounting for 64 per cent of all tech start-up activity across the nation, she was looking forward extending that reach into rural and regional areas.
“I am delighted to have been appointed by the NSW government to the board,” she said.
“There are vast regions of untapped innovation across the rural and regional sector. I look forward to shining a light on those entrepreneurs.” She was also hopeful it would mean more jobs in rural areas.
