One would hazard a guess that it is probably one many Leeton shire residents are hanging out for.
It has been a busy start to the year and life doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
So, while many might be looking forward to a long weekend off work and some much-needed family time, what will there be to do in Leeton?
It’s easy to think it’s not a SunRice Festival year so there’s not much to do.
Wrong.
There's still plenty happening throughout the shire, including hot air balloons taking to the skies, the Riverina Skate Championships, open gardens, art exhibition and much more.
It seems like every year it’s much easier to get away for a break at Easter compared to Christmas.
However, why not save some money and stay in town?
Communities like Leeton shire need all of us to stay and play here when possible.
Every dollar that is injected into the community counts towards putting meal on the table for those living in the shire.
Whether it’s by spending Easter Saturday grabbing a coffee and brunch at one of the money fabulous cafes in town, followed by a spot of shopping or even a picnic out at the Murrumbidgee River, why wouldn’t you want to stay?
It’s essential we all practice what we preach.
Sure, it’s certainly fine to head away for a break, but there’s always talk of supporting local businesses and that’s what we need to do.
Particularly when there’s public holidays.
Businesses are opening and paying their staff these public holiday rates, which they are certainly deserving of and entitled too, but these extra expenses do add up.
It’s up to the community to spend their money in town to ensure every business can continue to thrive.
The flow on affect to that is Leeton could then become a place people want to come to for their own long weekend breaks.
If visitors see locals out and about enjoying the town, they too will follow in our footsteps to see what all the fuss is about.
There will always be “negative nellies” out there that think Leeton isn’t anything special, but they couldn’t be more wrong. We just need to show it a little love and attention.
