Schools are certainly be wary of what children should be eating and this evident in programs introduced so students are eating more fruit and vegetables.
Canteens in schools across the country are also consistently offering more healthier alternatives for students to enjoy.
All of this will no doubt help to shape a healthier future for these young behaviour.
The behaviours they are learning at school should hopefully carry over into their adolescent and adult lives.
Of course, there is only so much schools, teachers and the government can do and implement.
Parents also need to take a responsibility in ensuring their children receive the required fruit and vegetable serves every day.
This is quite rightly easier said than done.
Parents in today's world live such busy lives what with work, children and their many activities, running a household and much more.
It is so easy to see why at night time it's much more time efficient to pick up dinner on the go just so the kids are fed and can get to bed before doing it all again the next day.
It can be hard work preparing healthy meals and that is the key word.
Preparation.
There's so many sites on social media and the Internet that share "life hacks" that actually do work.
Meal prepping is one of those things.
Of course not all of the children will be happy with these meals - especially if they are used to getting Maccas once a week, but they will learn this is the food they are getting or maybe none at all?
That's also a bit of a stretch, of course children need to be fed and they are fussy, but there are top recipes out there that can "hide" veggies in them, as well as being freezer appropriate.
Instead of having a lazy Sunday (save that for the school holidays), why not have an afternoon of preparing meals and get the kids involved?
The earlier they learn to cook, the easier it becomes and they too are learning what is healthy, as well as a vital life skill.
Of course this too can be hard, but it's worth a crack. Imagine a couple of nights a week where dinner just needs to be defrosted and heated up?
Heaven.
