Following its success at the McTaggart Cup in Wagga last month, the Leeton Public School rugby union team has qualified to participate in the next round of the competition in Canberra on Saturday.
The tournament will be a curtain raiser for the Brumbies v Rebels match in what is an exciting opportunity for the boys.
“They’ve been playing some very good games and had some great wins,” coach Kris Sales said.
“Rugby union is only relatively new to the school, so to be doing so well if fantastic.”
The side will play two games on Saturday at GIO Stadium and many will stay on to watch the Super Rugby match after that.
Player Tom Allen said he liked union for a number of reasons.
“(It’s) fun with my team mates, fitness … running around on the football field is good exercise,” he said. “Friendship – I get to play with my mates and meet new ones.”
