The Lions Club of Leeton held its annual changeover dinner late last month to welcome in its new executive.
On top of the that the event has marked its 50th anniversary in the town.
The club was chartered on May 1, 1967.
Charter president was Denis Cleathero, secretary Alan Grant and treasurer Don Edenborough.
The sponsoring club was the Lions Club of Griffith and the Leeton organisation has gone on to help many in town through its projects and fundraising.
In his report for the year past president Brian Collins thanked his members for their support over the past twelve months and highlighted the club’s achievements.
“We have had a year of many hours worked for the good of Lions International and our community,” he said.
“(One) major achievement was to commence work to replace the ageing locomotive of our ever so popular Lions train.
“After 46 years of service the Lions train has started to show its age from the wear and tear of its service.
“We decided to retire the old locomotive before something major happens.”
After the cutting of the anniversary cake, the night ended with the induction of the president and board for 2017-18 year. Incoming president is Maureen Smith, Mr Collins as secretary and treasurer Don Graham.
