The annual Friends of Luro and St Vincent de Paul charity event was held on Sunday under blue skies for the first time in many years.
In the past, participants have been met with cold, dreary and rain-filled days, but that wasn’t the case in 2017.
“Aside from raising money, the definite highlight was the weather,” Eric Hudson from Friends of Luro said.
Close to 90 people took part in the event, which raises money for both groups.
The profits are shared between the two organisations, who then put the money to good use.
Mr Hudson said the charity golf concept was a good way to raise funds when they were needed.
He said the beauty of the event was it had now been held in Leeton for more than a decade, so residents were both willing to take part and they were aware of both causes.
“We were very happy with how everything went this year,” Mr Hudson said.
“There was great support.”
The day was a three-person Ambrose event, meaning even those with limited golfing experience could take part.
Team that idea with a barbecue and nibbles and it was a good way to spend a Sunday.
There’s no slowing down for the event either.
“I’d say we’ll definitely be back for another turn again next year,” Mr Hudson said.
The final amount raised was still unknown, but Mr Hudson expected each organisation to receive about $2000 each as a result of the day.
