Leeton Shire Council formally adopted its operational plan for the next financial year on Wednesday night and in it are a variety of projects that are set to benefit the community.
However, some will be reliant on grant funding in order to get off the ground.
Council is approved its four-year delivery program, which details ongoing areas of work that will be delivered.
One of the big ticket items is the upgrading of the Leeton pool, which will be heavily reliant on grant funding. The cost of this project is expected to be $4.2 million.
Council is hoping to access $2 million in grants, while $1.2 million will come from its reserve funding and further $1 million in the form of a loan.
“This is going to be a big project and one the whole community will be able to benefit from,” mayor Paul Maytom said.
“There is a lot of good things happening and, will be happening, in our shire.”
The completion of another million-dollar project at Wamoon to upgrade its sewerage services is also slated to take place over the next two financial years.
At Yanco, $30,000 has been allocated to upgrade the sportsground’s dressing room, while CCTV will be installed in Mountford and Rotary parks in Leeton, which is expected to cost $24,000.
Golf Club Estate will have its nature strip beautified, with $16,000 allocated to that initiative and new playground fencing will be installed at Graham Park.
For the first time this year residents were able to have their say on the plans in an interactive manner before their adoption.
This was done through the Have Your Say portal that council has set up. There were many response, which pleased councillor Maytom.
“I think it’s a good way for us to engage with the community and it’s certainly been pleasing that people have been using it,” he said.
