Marjory McCormack was a founding member of the Inner Wheel Club of Leeton and was recognised for her many efforts at the annual changeover luncheon for the group on the weekend.
Mrs McCormack has been a pioneer of many groups during her time, with the Inner Wheel Club of Leeton a testament to her years of giving back to the community she loves and has written a book about.
She was presented with a special certificate at the changeover, which was also a celebration of 60 years of service for the wider group.
There was plenty to be happy about during the anniversary year, according to outgoing president Lenore Ditton.
“Well, what a year in which we celebrated our 60th anniversary,” she said.
“What a wonderful occasion, which was well supported by past members and representatives from Inner Wheel Australia and other district clubs.
“We are proud to have hosted such a great event in our history.”
The club also showed its generous side during the luncheon when it gave away money to various community groups in the shire.
They included the Alf Herrmann Lodge, Leeton Volunteer Rescue Association, the Roxy Theatre, Leeton Town Band, Can Assist and more.
Members also kept busy throughout the 12 months by not just raising vital funds for the community, but participating in various functions and events throughout the region.
Members even won the Yenda and Leeton Sporting Challenge trophy, which was contested in November.
Moira Buller will be taking on the big job as president for the next 12 months, with Mrs Ditton wishing her success.
Women in the shire have been encouraged to join the club and enjoy the fellowship that comes with it.
