Girls in Years 9 and 10 participated in the amazing You Go Girl!
Program organised by Miss Becker and Mrs Speer.
This program is unique to our school and our students, based on a holistic approach to empowering young women for their future careers and to nurture an positive and aspirational mindset.
The girls were involved in a variety of workshops built around Careers and Wellbeing led by some inspiring female role models from our community and further afield.
We are extremely grateful that these generous and talented guest speakers gave their time to make our day such a worthwhile and positive event for our girls.
Students were split into four Tribes each led by female staff members, Mrs Stout, Miss Lucas, Mrs Schmetzer and Mrs Crelley.
Each Tribe took part in four workshops (Pow Wows) listed below on a rotating basis throughout the day.
#GirlPower- My future: Vision boarding led by Kaedi Speer, Team Leader at Corowa Shire Council, an impressive position for someone who is just 22 years old.
#GirlBoss: Local influential female business entrepreneurs Kate O’Callaghan (Director, Southern Cotton) and Liane Sayer Roberts (Director, Sauce Communications) spoke to the girls on their different study and career pathways that have led them to this point in their careers - being the ‘girl boss’ of very prominent and successful local business ventures.
#Namaste: Yoga, meditation and mindfulness strategies led by Deral Weir owner of Studio 9 to encourage positive wellbeing and self-awareness for success.
#ShatterIt: provided students with insights into females succeeding in male dominated work roles led by Tara Cassidy.
Warehouse Manager, Sunrice and Emma Tyrrell, an electrician also at Sunrice.
Last but certainly not least was the final workshop which all students attended called #Volunteer Warrior led by Sue Gavel owner of Wellness Ten Park Avenue who shared her fantastic life experiences as a volunteer and snapshots of her role as Program Manager for LYNVET LINKS now called Get Set a local organisation that our school currently works very closely with.
Thank you again to all our inspirational guest speakers, Miss Becker and Mrs Speer for their organisation and enormous effort in getting this day off the ground and the Hungry Hut for the superb catering job.
