Police are on the hunt for persons involved in a ram raid attack and an armed robbery in Leeton on Sunday.
About 2.20am a car wash in Belah Street was the target in a ram raid attack, where an older model white Holden Rodeo was caught on CCTV cameras repeatedly ramming into the coin machine.
An extensive amount of damage had been caused to the machine when a man got out and gained access to the machine, and was attempting to do so when police arrived.
Police initiated a pursuit of the vehicle but later disengaged.
Chief Inspector John Wadsworth said police were currently reviewing the CCTV footage, and forensic services were called to examine the scene.
In what police believe to be a related incident, a bottle shop on Sycamore Street was held up by a man believed to be wielding a knife.
RELATED:
About 1pm police responded to a hold up activation, where a male was seen to go into the shop and run back out and take off in a vehicle.
“We do believe it may be linked to the one early this morning and the male was wearing some sort of mask,” Inspector Wadsworth said.
Further details released by NSW Police on Monday morning reveal two masked men left the passenger side of the vehicle just before the robbery.
With their faces covered, the pair confronted the 22-year-old female bottle shop attendant with a knife before taking cash, cigarettes and the woman’s handbag.
They then ran back to the waiting vehicle, which drove off with the two robbers on board.
The vehicle in both incidents was a white Holden Rodeo, believed to bear registration plates WQL481.
The perpetrators in question are believed to be armed with a knife, so police urge anyone who sees them, the vehicle, or who has any information about the incidents to not approach, but call 000 immediately.
