LAST Wednesday was closing day for the 2017 golfing year and had a strong field for the stableford event. A Grade winner was Penny Hudson, 39, and runner-up was Nola O’Reilly, 37. B Grade winner Kath Lamont, 34, and runner-up Mary Dodd, 32. Nearest the pins: 4th Nola O’Reilly. Ball comp 32. Men’s
WEDNESDAY wackers winner was Steve Webb with a fine 42 points. Runner-up was R Simpson with 38 points. Nearest the pins: 4th Harry Soley, 13th Merv Jaensch, and 15th Bruce Harrison. Ball comp went to 37 points.
Saturday was a stableford. A Grade winner Tony Forrest and runner-up Jack Howe. B Grade was Nola O’Reilly and runner-up Steve Hottes. NTP: 4th Viv Burton, 6th Tim Commins, 13th David Dowling, and 15th Owen O’Callaghan. Drive and chip: A Grade Shane Whelan, B Grade Greg Bowyer.
Vets
MONDAY vets played round one of summer championships. First was Kevin Hollis 70 nett on a countback to second David Lang also with 70; 3rd Jim Pilkington 71 nett. Nearest the pins: 4th and 13th Don Piltz. Next Monday vets play round two of summer championships, captain Willie Pilosio.
