WITH healthy living gaining momentum, one Leeton-based company is hoping to capitalise.
The healthy eating trend has become more popular in recent years, with residents across the country looking at better options when it comes to their meals and snacks.
SunRice has continued to offer different products that come under this banner and it has now launched a new tasty delight for all to enjoy and not feel bad about it afterwards.
As a result, the goodness of Riverina-grown brown rice cake is now available in an adult, bite-sized pack.
SunRice has forecast a volume of around two million packets per year and plans to take the product global in the future.
The snack is being produced at Leeton’s SunRice manufacturing facility.
SunRice chairman Laurie Arthur said the rice cake bites demonstrated SunRice’s strength as an Australian agribusiness, with a fully integrated supply chain to innovate and leverage consumer food trends to benefit Riverina rice growers:
“Riverina rice growers are world leaders in productivity, efficiency and sustainability: globally, our growers are the highest yielding and most efficient water users,” he said.
“SunRice adds value to the Riverina rice crop through innovation and regional manufacturing operations that employ around 700 staff (primarily in Leeton and Deniliquin). In the Riverina, we now manufacture a range of value-add products.
“We have also developed a low GI rice and healthy option products.
“Our innovation is driven by extensive consumer insights and identification of global macro-trends, such as demand for food safety, meal convenience, healthy eating and snacking options, and the ‘sushi’ revolution. Due to our fully-integrated supply chain and the strong reputation of SunRice’s branded products, we are perfectly placed to tap into these trends and expand sales across Australia and internationally.”
SunRice developed its new product following research to understand what Australian consumers desire in a “better-for-you” savoury snack.
