BOWLS
L&D: Leeton and District Bowling Club will be hosting the Peter Eurell Memorial pairs this Sunday. This event attracts some of the best bowlers in the district and is one of the clubs major competitions for the year. Peter Eurell’s pairs first established after a club legend, Peter Eurell gained selection to represent NSW in the Australian championships. A feat that no other bowler from the L&D Men’s Bowling Club has ever been able to achieve the honour. According to the historians from the club the first Eurell’s pairs kicked of in the late 70’s then it became the Victa pair but then after Peters passing in 2011 it is now called the Peter Eurell Memorial Pairs, so the tradition continues and all bowlers will be looking forward to some fierce competition. In other club news the club pennants starts February 18, so keep an eye out on the notice board for the nomination sheets. Reminding all bowlers that it is a eight-week commitment when nominating. Also a reminder the club fours championships starts early in the new year. The wrap up night for the Business House Challenge Bowls (Bare-Foot Bowls) is Tuesday, December 19. There was no best and fairest awarded this week. Don’t forget there is a meat raffle tonight and there will be a couple of Christmas hams up for grabs.
