Leeton Shire Council has given an inside look into just what roads it will be focusing on and upgrading in the first half of this year.
Council has three major road work projects scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2018 thanks to flood funding which has freed up a share of Roads to Recovery (R2R) funding for reallocation.
Mayor Paul Maytom said the three projects were identified as high priorities for completion.
“Council receives many requests to upgrade the Leeton shire road network, but we cannot afford to do them all,” he said.
“It’s a real bonus to be able to add a few to this year’s list of capital works.”
The three major roadwork projects to be completed in the first quarter of 2018 include a variety of work.
In Palm Avenue there will be the installation of a new kerb.
This will involve the installation of kerb and gutter from where it currently ends, north of Dooley Lane, and filling in to the Cassia Road roundabout. It will also be extended from the roundabout to Muntenpen Street.
Associated roadworks will be completed to tie in with the new kerb installation.
These works have already commenced with the stormwater pipe network requiring replacement prior to the kerb works commencing.
Keeping many parents happy will be the upgrade of the Graham Park carpark.
This will involve the installation of barrier kerb and V-Drain along the length of Quandong Street, with the formalisation of parking along Quandong Street.

It will include 90-degree off-street parking.
The new carpark will have several disability parking spaces and, in future stages, a path leading from the parking areas to the many play areas and facilities in the park.
Almond Road is also on the agenda.
Work will see the rehabilitation of Almond Road and Petersham Road to Lansdowne Estate.
The aim will be to widen the carriageway of Almond Road to a total width of six metres and strengthen the pavement to cater for the increased traffic utilising this route now and into the future.
Prior to these works starting there will be a section of water main that requires replacement by the water and wastewater team.
Once this work has been completed the roadworks will get underway.
