The date for the biennial Leeton Relay for Life has been set down for October 13 and 14.
While that may seem light years away, getting a team together for the cancer fundraiser now could pay dividends for participants.
An early bird deal is currently being offered to those who sign up now, meaning their registration will be cheaper now than in the months leading up to the event.
Relay for Life is a fun and moving overnight experience that raises vital funds for the Cancer Council NSW’s research programs, as well as prevention and support services.
Community relations co-ordinator for Cancer Council western region Lily White said the event was a chance for the Leeton community to recognise and celebrate local cancer survivors, patients and their carers, to honour and remember loved ones lost to cancer and to raise money to help save more lives.
“The Leeton Relay For Life volunteer organising committee have started discussing ideas and the date has been set,” she said.
“Be sure to register to be part of this wonderful community event.”
The Leeton Relay For Life was a huge success in 2016, raising over $45,000, with more than 400 community members at the event.
Ms White urged residents to get their friends and family together and help make a difference to those affect be cancer in the community.
After a successful event in March 2016, the committee are busily planning a bigger and better event in October 2018.
