With both sides splitting the two previous games between in fairly one-sided game it was the battle between the two better one-day teams.
After winning the toss, Yanco would have wanted to put scoreboard pressure on early though openers Matt Dedini and Nathan Tang.
The pair did get the score to 29 before Tang was the first wicket to fall when he was caught off the bowling of Adrian Axtill (3/3).
Dedini and Grant Forrest worked hard to put the biggest partnership of the Stags innings getting the score to 59 before Dedini was bowled by the spin of Steve Campbell (2/13).
Forrest would prove to be constant in the Stags innings as no other Yanco batsmen were able to get into double figures as Ben Elwin (3/19) proved difficult for the middle order to deal with as Rhyan Carter (1), Kyle Pete (2) and then eventually Forrest (52).
When Josh Lanham (2) and Dionisio Pantano (0) fell in successive Axtill, Yanco had posted 124 off 39.3 overs.
Wanting to get the game done quickly, the Ferrets were quick out of the blocks through Reece Maguire and Steve Campbell.
The pair were cracking along at nearly five runs an over and reached 50 in 10 overs before Campbell fell to the bowling of Grant Forrest (1/33).
While the fall of Campbell did slow the scoring slightly, Daniel Muir eventually found his touch and along with Maguire pushed there side towards victory.
The skill of Muir was on show in the 23rd over when he hit Forrest for three consecutive sixes to bring the Ferrets to within 18 runs of victory with 17 overs remaining.
With just two runs required, Maguire fell looking to finishes it with one big shot as he was stumped by Nathan Lanham off the bowling of Hugh Collins (1/18), Justin Kelly came to the crease for one delivery to finish the innings and give his side an eight-wicket victory.
The sides will now switch there focus back to the longer format and cementing their top two places on the ladder.
