As the CEO of Royal Far West, I wish to sincerely thank the wonderful Members of our Leeton Branch for all their hard work.
Their fundraising efforts over the last 12 months have raised a much-appreciated $2150.
These funds have been invested in services to support children to visit our Health Centre at Manly for intensive therapy and support, and also to fully fund a school term of Telecare for two children in Yanco.
Thanks to the efforts of the Branch and the kindness of the community, local children are receiving the life-changing help and support that they need but have not been able to access in their towns.
Every donation we receive is so important to a country child.
If you can help the Leeton Branch support even more children in the community, please contact the Secretary, Meryl Parker, on 0490 075 483.
And if you find yourself visiting Manly, please drop by Royal Far West to say hello.
Lindsay Cane, Royal Far West.
Lions roaring success
John Wadsworth, President of the Lions Club of Leeton has reported that their Christmas Raffle earned over three thousand valuable dollars, which will be used to the benefit of the Leeton Community and major Lions projects.
“This achievement is largely due to the efforts of the raffle organiser, Lion Barb Smith, who joined Leeton Lions less than 12 months ago, and to the generosity of Leeton business houses and the generosity of the Leeton townspeople”, Mr Wadsworth said.
Raffle organiser, Barb Smith, said she was overwhelmed by the generosity of the business people of Leeton who donated all manner of items, plus vouchers and cash.
“I approached almost all of the business people of Leeton for donations and received very few knock-backs,” Ms Smith said.
Their amazing generosity allowed us to have six ‘hamper’ prizes, each worth several hundred dollars. Our donors are too many to name but our Lions Club is immensely grateful to them.
Members of the public also donated cash and goods. The money raised will go a long way to help us with planned projects.
We are also greatly appreciative to the Leeton people for their renowned generosity in buying tickets from my small band of Lions helpers and friends. Thank you Leeton, you’ve done it again.

At the recent Summer Festival of Bridge, in Canberra, Leeton Bridge Club players, Michael Ross, Penny and Phillip Williams, with a fourth player from Mollymook, gained third place in an event for players with fewer than 1000 Masterpoints. This was a great achievement in such a big event.
