After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Stags were on the back foot as the Phantom made the early breakthroughs they needed.
Lachlan McMaster picked up the crucial wickets of Matt Dedini (9) and Hugh Collins (0) while Brandon Emerson (1/4) was able to dismiss the in-form Nathan Tang (1) in the space of six deliveries to have the Yanco side struggling on 3/11 after six overs.
With an uphill battle in front of them, Nathan Lanham and Kyle Pete looked to save their side from the downward spiral.
The pair were able to put on 17 runs before Steve Weckert struck to remove Lanham (7) but the wicket didn’t prove to have as much of an impact as Pete and Booth were able to add quick runs on the board.
The pair were able to quickly add 42 runs in six overs before Pete (12) became Jock Yelland’s first victim to see Yanco fall to 4/70 off 21 overs.
Mark Doyle (5) was the next to fall 11 runs later when he was caught by Chris Hopkins off the bowling Yelland.
Angus Boulton came to the crease, and along with Booth, the pair were able to score at a run a ball as the Stags looked to add quick runs and give them a chance at getting deep into the batting line-up of the Phantoms.
When Boulton (18) became Yelland’s (3/22) third and final victim, Josh Lanham (0) followed closely behind when he was run out by Tye Studholme.
Booth continued to score at pace while Rhyan Carter occupied the crease at the other end as the pair but on 42 runs before Booth (65) was finally dismissed by Weckert (2/18) while Dionisio Pantano (0) followed closely behind to see the Stags bowled out for 151 in 39.4 overs.
With 20 overs remaining in the day, the Phantoms were looking to get through to stumps with as little damage as possible.
Plans changed when Studholme (1) fell to the bowling of Booth in the second over of their innings to be at 1/1 after seven deliveries.
The Phantoms will be looking to bat for a large part of the second day to have any chance of picking up first innings points
