Leeton Fire and Rescue rushed to Yanco’s Mill Lodge, which was formally a short-stay accommodation facility, about 5pm on Tuesday.
After receiving initial reports of a house fire, it was discovered rubbish had caught alight at the back of the Mill Lodge property.
It is believed the owners have been clearing out the building after it was destroyed by a blaze on Anzac Day last year.
Two trucks and two crews attended Tuesday’s incident.
According to residents the Mill Lodge was thought to be one of the first house built in Yanco and was named as such because there was a timber mill nearby to mill timber for the building of the early Yanco and Leeton homes.
