YAHS took on Leeton High School on Wednesday night at Yanco Sportsground in both the boys and girls competition.
League tag kicked off the night, with Yanco Ag running away to an easy 18-0 victory over Leeton High.
National Rugby League development officer Andrew Lavaka said while the match was relatively one-sided, the Leeton High side didn’t give up.
“I think it more just came to different skill levels,” he said.
“I’m sure Leeton High will improve. Yanco Ag were just that bit better on the night.”
The boys came also went the way of Yanco Ag, but in completely different circumstances.
Yanco were the first to get the points on the board, scoring and converting in the first half.
However, that was the last time they would be crossing the line, with Leeton High School scoring their only try in the second half.
A missed conversion meant there would be no draw, with Yanco Ag getting the win.
Lavaka said it was a real test for the two teams.
“Yanco really had to grind it out 100 per cent,” he said.
“They didn’t score at all in the second half, so they really had to defend well.
“It wasn’t a high-scoring match, but it was a great contest.”

Leeton High School will be back on deck at Yanco Sportsground, taking on St Francis College, who are the reigning champions in both the boys and girls competitions.
“We had a good crowd last week, so hopefully it’s the same again this week … it’s a good night,” Lavaka said.
League tag will get underway at 6pm, with the boys match to follow afterwards.
