Held on Easter Monday at the Leeton Skate Park, the championships were held across three sections – skate, scooter and BMX.
Taking home the 15th annual Riggs Cup in the senior skate category was Riley Foster from Sydney, with Griffith’s Todd Tengstrom the runner-up.
Organised by the Leeton Youth Committee, Leeton Shire Council and Totem Skateboarding, the 2018 attracted a huge crowd.
Totem Skateboarding co-founder Nigel Cameron, a former Leeton resident, said the standard of competition across the categories continues to grow.
“Every year it just seems to get bigger and better,” he said.
“Some of these guys I’ve seen progress over many years, in particular Damien (Eyles) and Beau (Hindmarsh).
“They were first and second in the senior BMX this year and it’s been a real pleasure to watch them improve and come through the ranks every year.”
The championships also allow the skate park to be showcased to its full potential and a petition is now circling calling on council to make some improvements where possible.
Mr Cameron said one of the highlights for him each year was seeing the breaking down of barriers.
“We’ve had to do a lot of work when it comes to breaking down some of the negative images people might have of skating and these parks, so it’s great seeing people coming out and supporting this event,” he said.
