United struck early with a goal in the first 15 minutes of the match before finding the net again at half-time and once more in the second half, to record a 3-1 win.
Cootamundra’s solitary goal came in the first half, but it wasn’t enough to keep them in the match.
After a sluggish start to the season in round one, it was a different United who turned up, according to captain Joey Fondacaro.
“We were ready to go and I think we wanted it a bit more this week,” he said.
“It was definitely a big improvement on last week.
“As a team I thought we played really well.”
Jake Shelton was named man of the match after scoring two of Leeton’s goals on Sunday.
Cootamundra last weekend took it to reigning premiers, giving Henwood Park a real run for their money.
“Coota are a good side, so we’re really happy we were able to get the win,” Fondacaro said.
“Looking at some of the other results from the last two weekends, I think it’s going to be a really competitive, but even competition this year.” United will now have the week off before returning on April 29 against Wagga United.
