Inspector Nick Seddon said the majority of road users were well behaved during Operation Chrome, however there were a few still out there taking risks.
“All in all we are happy that the majority of people who live in the Murrumbidgee PD were taking care of themselves and diving responsibly,” Inspector Seddon said.
“But it is still disappointing that people are still out there making the roads unsafe. We need them to take responsibility for their actions, so if they drive with drugs or alcohol in their system we won't be backward in coming forward in taking the necessary action.”
Results from operation Chrome in the Murrumbidgee PD are as follows:
- Friday: 636 Random Breath Tests conducted, one Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol (PCA) charge, one possession of prohibited drug charge, two wanted on warrants and 15 other tickets issued.
- Saturday: 1028 Random Breath Tests conducted, three PCAs, three drug drivers charged, two disqualified drivers charged, one possession of prohibited drug charge and 34 traffic tickets issued.
- Sunday: 356 Random Breath tests conducted, no PCAs, one drug driver charged and 28 tickets issued.
