However, on the recent Mother’s Day weekend Mrs Iannelli was given the surprise of a lifetime thanks to her daughter Cristina.
Cristina nominated Janey to be one of three mother’s who had their dreams and wishes granted through the Go People organisation. As a result, Janey was flown to Sydney where Cristina has been following her mum’s childhood dream herself and studying at the Australian Institute of Music, but it wasn’t until she arrived that she discovered what was going on.
Go People organised to surprise Janey and planned for the mother and daughter to record a duet inside Universal Music’s state of the art Forbes Street Studios. The studio is home to artists such as Dean Lewis and Vera Blue, and had tracks laid down inside it’s walls by international talent including Sean Paul and Post Malone.
Cristina and Janey recorded a duet of Cat Stevens’ classic - Father and Son with a female twist, titling it Mother and Daughter. “It was an incredible experience,” Janey said.
“I had no idea what was going on. I just thought I was going to Sydney for a visit and then this happened. It was absolutely amazing. It was beautiful that Cristina thought of me for this. I’ve always just sang in the shower, but it was a dream of mine and now it’s come true.”
Janey said the weekend was a whirlwind and when she heard the final product she broke down in tears. “It was just beautiful,” she said.
