Leeton’s RSL Sub Branch Auxiliary members have been busy making laundry bags for a NSW RSL Auxiliary project to provide one for each of the 500 participants from a record 18 participating nations, competing in 11 adaptive sports of the Invictus Games. We presented our final bundle, together with a special quilt, at the recent NSW State Congress in Albury, bringing our Leeton total contribution to 54 bags. With the assistance of Brad Booth of Brad’s Mensland, each bag was embroidered with Leeton’s logo, resulting in a little bit of Leeton travelling to various parts of the world.

The word ‘Invictus’ is Latin for ‘unconquered’ and embodies the fighting spirit or our wounded, injured and ill servicemen and women. They have been tested and challenged, but they have not been overcome. They have proven that by embracing each other and the support of family and friends, they can reclaim their future. They are Invictus. The Duke of Sussex saw the positive impact sport could have on their recovery and rehabilitation, hense he founded the Invictus Games in 2014.
Most of us will never know the horrors of combat. Horrors so great that many servicemen and women suffer life-changing injuries, both visable and invisible, while serving their countries, while serving us. Leeton’s Auxiliary welcome and supports all participants, wishing them a successful games.
