German company ib vogt is proposing to develop a commercial scale solar farm located roughly one kilometre north west of Yanco and on the south-western outskirts of Leeton, within the Leeton Local Government Area.
The Yanco Solar Farm – as it would be called – would have a capacity of approximately 72 MW (DC), would occupy approximately 200 hectares of land and would connect to the Yanco Transgrid Electrical Substation (to the south east of the project site) via a new 33 KV transmission line.

The company held a private consultation event in Yanco on August 8 for for immediate neighbours to the solar farm proposal site.
“Twelve neighbours to the site attended the event (and) several were supportive of the proposal, while several had concerns about potential impacts to visual amenity, property values, health, the use of agricultural land and the possibility of increased heat,” company spokeswoman Jenny Walsh
There was also a public event in Leeton the following day where residents could have their say and ask questions, with around 25 people attending.
“General feedback was positive about the need for renewable energy although some attendees raised concerns about visual impacts such as glare from the panels and construction traffic,” Ms Walsh said.
“All of the concerns raised will be considered as the site design progresses and will be addressed in the detailed environmental impact assessments for the proposal.
“We will keep the community updated regarding the progress of the Yanco Solar Farm proposal.”
The company also plans to hold a second community event once the solar farm environmental assessments have progressed.
This will likely be held in November and will be advertised before then.
