Murray Cod producer Verve Hill is celebrating after winning gold at the 2018 Sydney Royal Fine Food Festival and bronze at the 2018 Australian Food Awards.
It is the first year the family-owned business has entered the prestigious competitions, gaining plenty of positive feedback from the judges.
Verve Hill is the brand name of the Murray Cod growing operation, located at Corbie Hill.
Leeton’s Lisa Ryan is one of those behind the operation and was thrilled to receive the awards and the associated recognition.
“It really confirms all the hard work is paying off and our fish really are of a very high standard,” she said.
“At Verve Hill we believe the finest Murray Cod comes from the quality in the environment they are grown in.
“Our farms are run with utmost care to ensure the ongoing health and the highest possible conditions for our fish.”
The Australian Fine Food Awards, conducted by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria offers Australian producers’ broad opportunities to leverage their success locally and internationally with the award’s national brand seal of quality.
Entrants have the opportunity to benchmark against set criteria; receive invaluable independent feedback from industry experts; and be rewarded for excellence. For those in Leeton wanting to test out the quality of the product for themselves can do so by enjoying a meal at The Village or Pages on Pine.
It has been a busy time for Verve Hill recently having attracted the attention of a global audience. Sixteen Chinese delegates from the Henan province recently paid a visit to the Murray Cod growing operation and they were impressed with what they saw.
“The delegation was taken on a tour of the Verve Hill facility in Leeton and had an opportunity to interact with the Murray Cod,” Mrs Ryan said. “Later on they enjoyed the clean fresh taste of Murray Cod with a local ingredient-based menu at The Village.”
