In week one of the twilight golf competition, 287 players completed nine holes each to open the 2018-19 season.
This event still rivals all as the largest social golf event at club level throughout the whole of NSW. Well done to all participants.
The start of the season always throws up some amazing numbers and individually the best was “twilight perennial” Steve McMahon shooting 8 under nett 28.
Steve gets the car wash tokens as the player of the round.
Unlucky players only a shot back on nett 29 were Nick Rendina, Jayden Boardman and Chris Campisi, with Robyn Locke, Jade Hodge, Ryan Oldershaw, Harry Odewahn and Ben Elwin all on 6 under nett 30.
Rounding out the mentions for week one were Matty Arnold, Matt Sharman, Mark Lehman, Tim Rolls, Kimmy Handsaker, Anthony Boots and Marcus Kinhult who all had blinding 31s to start their competition off.
Players needed 33 or better to get a ball comp ball.
Teams who started the 23-week journey in style included The Whymees, Nob Trains, Swig n Swing and Crowaholics with new team 8 balls and a G getting out of the gates early in their first season.
Some teams prefer the running late and have decided to start in week two.
The Swinging Richards, Men @ Work and the Odd Squad currently sit in this “Winx”-style position.
Handicapping rules state club members can lose a maximum of four shots per week throughout the event, but non-members loose whatever they break the par by up until they have completed five rounds.

For example Jayden Boardman 29 nett loses seven shots for his seven under par.
Next week the Leeton Golf Club will host its annual Veterans Week Of Golf.
Twilighters should refrain from playing rounds on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday before 2pm, but anytime after this is fine.
Players are also reminded the pro shop has a licence to sell takeaway beers for the course on Friday afternoons.
Thanks to all those that supported our licence last week and remember “our ice is for our customers”.
The club would like to thank their weekly sponsors for all of the help.
