AFTER a short break for the Squash Club Championships, the spring competition resumed with five games taking place in summer-like heat. Tuesday saw Wanderers remain unbeaten so far; with Tim Allen, Lizette Taylor and Ganesh Natarajan winning for Wanderers while Macauley Harrison was the sole winner for Glories. Phoenixes defeated Roars with some tough games being played; Matt Boots and Ian Hookway both had long five-game wins against Carol Davidson and Simone Bruno. Ryan Thurgood was the only winner for Roars having a great tussle with Tony Naimo winning 11-6,11-9,6-11,12-10. Mariners had a clean sweep against Jets; Jacob Harrison used all of his fitness against Rob Hanlon winning in his usual five-game style 9-11,11-6,7-11,11-7,15-13. Match of the week went to Miranda Tait and Daniel Shelton, Miranda coming back from two games down to win 17-19,8-11,12-10,11-9,14-12.

Wednesday had Taipans winning again to remain undefeated; Nicholas Croucamp and Trish Fletcher had a tough five setter with Nicholas taking the spoils for Taipans. Bryan Shepley had the only win for Bullets to remain undefeated so far. Breakers defeated Hawks, Blayne Thompson and Dion DeMamiel had their usual close encounter with Blayne winning 12-10,12-10,8-11,11-9. Kings defeated Wildcats; Naomi Rawle was the only winner for Wildcats, defeating Brodie Lashbrook 11-9,9-11,6-11,11-7,11-9.
Strikers defeated Sixers with wins going to Brian O’Leary, Anthony Iannelli and Dawid Croucamp. Declan Ryan had Sixers’ only win against Will Rawle, winning 12-10,11-9,3-11,12-10. Stars defeated Hurricanes with Miranda Tait subbing up and winning against Brianna Gray-Mills. Marcelle Steele had the other win for Stars. The only win for Hurricanes was by Sarah Quinlivan who is still in top form after her win in the Club Championships; Sarah defeated Col Thompson 11-8,11-4,14-16,11-4. Renegades kept their undefeated form with a win against Scorchers. Sean Ryan and Ian Draper had convincing wins for Renegades. Callum Ryan had tough match against Matt Piper winning for Scorchers 11-3,11-5,11-13,11-8. Dion DeMamiel subbed up to take on David Cross, winning an epic five setter, 11-7,5-11,11-7,5-11,11-8.
