You want drama? Head to the NSW south coast.
Home and Away will return for its 31st year in Monday, February 18, with the season opener shot at the iconic Old Bombo Quarry.
Series producer Lucy Addario the quarry was chosen due to its “uniqueness”.
“While scouting the South Coast for a location we found the Old Bombo quarry and we instantly knew it was the perfect backdrop for the climatic showdown for our season return,” she said.
More than 30 cast and crew members were in both Kiama and Gerroa for one week while shooting. Ms Addario said landscape was an important part of Home and Away’s story telling, and that Kiama perfectly fit with the theme of the season opener.
“We instantly knew it was the perfect backdrop for the climatic showdown for our season return,” she said.
“The Old Bombo Quarry provided a magnificent backdrop for our story, it was a stark contrast to the sunny golden shores of Summer Bay.
“The stunning rock formations and the open expanse enforced the sense of isolation and danger for our characters in crisis. It made it so dramatic and epic.”
The season opener will air on Monday at 7pm on Channel Seven.
