However, Target wouldn't be drawn on commenting on these thoughts or opinions, keeping well clear of the debate.
A spokesman for the company wouldn't be drawn on confirming or denying whether or not the store's future was in safe hands.
"It is business as usual for Target," the spokesman said.
"All stakeholders will be communicated with well in advance of any planned change to Target's store network.
"We look forward to continuing our relationship with the communities where we operate and remain committed to providing our customers quality fashion and basics at low prices.

"As always, and with great respect, our team members will be communicated with first if there are any planned changes to our stores."
It isn't the first time rumours have spread like wildfire throughout town that the store is closing.
Similar thoughts were highlighted by The Irrigator last year.
However, the store from all appearances appears to be performing well.
It comes after news within the last month the Target Country store in Temora would be closing its doors.
Target is owned by Wesfarmers and it was reported last year the company would be closing up to 20 per cent of its stores across the country.
In 2018, Wesfarmers chief executive officer of department stores, Guy Russo, said Target was looking to shed around a dozen stores over the next five years by closing under-performing stores when their leases expire.
The move is part of a network-wide re-brand.
Griffith is also home to a large Target store, with the city also set to soon welcome Kmart to town.
Kmart continues to be a huge competitor for Target across the country.
