Entering their third year of the Football Wagga competition, Leeton are set to take on Tolland on Sunday afternoon.
The match has been set down to be played at the MIA Sportsground, but it may be affected by a late change and moved to the town ovals.
United have enjoyed a solid pre-season and training regime, but coach Frank Alampi said there was nothing like the real thing.
"There's nothing like getting out there and playing," Alampi said.
"All the boys are pretty excited and ready to start the year off with a win."
Leeton and Tolland have enjoyed several good match ups in the past and Alampi expects it to be no different on Sunday afternoon.
He was hopeful everything he had been teaching and working on with the first grade squad would reflect on the field as soon as the match begins.
"I'm confident the boys will play well and follow the game plan and what we've been working on," Alampi said.

Speaking to The Irrigator on Wednesday, Alampi was 90 per cent sure of his team selection, with some minor tweaks to come.
He said the positive for first grade this year was having several younger players pushing the more experienced for senior selection.
"There's a few of the younger boys I've spoken to and told them they are very close to first grade selection," Alampi said.
"Having those young players being able to do that is really good.
"It gives the senior players a bit of a push as well.
"I think that is what will work in our favour this year.
"We've got a really good mix of young players, new players and our more experienced players."
With the season just around the corner, Alampi is hopeful the side will register a win first up and build from there.
Spectators are welcome to watch all of United's grades playing on Sunday.
