Shoulder widening works along the road have been put on hold, but not for too long.
The work will now be completed between the Easter and Anzac Day holiday periods.
Council's manager roads and drainage Chris Lashbrook said the shoulder widening has been left open to traffic for several weeks to reduce the possibility of any surface failures occurring after sealing works is completed.
"These sealing works were programmed to occur at a similar time to the completion of works on another project, but council's contractors were unable to complete both projects in the time they had allocated."
In the meantime, council's roads team will be completing some remediation works on the northern side of Almond Road, as well as keeping water on the site for dust suppression until the works are finalised.
The sealing of the shoulder widening, as well as some additional works to be undertaken along the supply channel side of Almond Road, will now be undertaken the week starting April 22.
