A MAN was severely injured after being set upon by two offenders in Yanco Avenue on Easter Saturday.

The 54-year-old has been at the Leeton Soldiers Club where he become involved in an unrelated verbal altercation regarding a poker machine.
After being asked to leave the premises, he remained outside for some time before walking away.
He then tripped and fell on a nature strip when the two offenders, not related to the incident inside the club, were seen to get out of a black Nissan Navara with South Australian number plates and stomp on the head of the victim.
The victim was taken to Wagga Base Hospital for treatment for an injured eye socket and head injuries.
Detectives were called and a crime scene was set up and processed.

CCTV footage is being reviewed and investigations are continuing.
Police said the same vehicle had also been involved in a pursuit with highway patrol just outside of Yanco earlier that day.
The pursuit was terminated after police deemed it to be too dangerous.
