Last weekend coach Daniel Muir gave his side more "freedom" to run more with their natural game and play on instinct.
While they were still defeated by the Hoppers by close to 50 points, that deficit was mostly due to a poor first quarter.
"We've proven to ourselves we can match it with the top teams," he said.
"On the weekend, apart from the first quarter, we were right there with Coolamon.
"We outscored them in the second and third quarters and, up until the last 10 minutes of the fourth, we were outscoring them.

"There are positives and we are improving."
Saturday's match against the top-placed Wagga Tigers is a case of first taking on last, but Muir hopes his side forgets what's on paper and goes out and throws everything they can at their opposition.
The Tigers have shown they are beatable, going down twice already this season, and it would certainly send ripples through the competition if the Crows were able to claim a major scalp.
Muir said he would be sticking to a similar style of play from last weekend.
"Our two best games of the year ... bar the first quarter in those games ... have been against Grifith and Coolamon," he said.
"We're headed in the right direction. We just need to bridge that gap between our best and worst performance.
"You still have to do your homework about the team you're playing on the weekend, but I've probably been going over the top a bit when it then comes to the game plan.
"Getting the players to play more on instinct is something that will be more of a focal point for us for the rest of the year."
