IN THE past few seasons, road trips to Hay have always been long, but teams could be pretty certain they would come away with the points against the Magpies.
However, that is no longer the case as Hay continue to be the standout improvers of the Group 20 first grade competition in season 2019.
Yanco-Wamoon are the next side to face Hay on their home turf and it won't be an easy ask.
The Hawks are back on the right track after picking up a victory over Tullibigeal Lakes United last weekend and will be hoping that winning formula continues to mix well on Sunday afternoon as they look to string together consistent wins once more.
After defeating the top side in Waratah Tigers in recent weeks, seventh-placed Hay are seeking their next big scalp and they have their eyes firmly on the Hawks.
Yanco-Wamoon are third on the table, but share equal points with West Wyalong who are second.
The Mallee Men are this weekend playing the Leeton Greens, who are two points behind the Hawks in fourth.
This means if the Hawks get the job done against Hay and West Wyalong go down to Leeton, they will find themselves jumping into second position.
Coach Troy Preston has said his charges aren't getting ahead of themselves and they are taking each game as it comes, but with results now starting to impact the ladder, the Hawks will be wanting to start cementing their position to secure the double chance come finals.
