The Goannas bounced back to winning form with a hard-fought win on the road, 12.14 (86) to 11.7 (73) at Leeton Showground.
An impressive second quarter display put MCUE 37 points clear at half-time before the Crows mounted a sizeable comeback.
They kicked six third-quarter goals to close within 14 points at the final change and got within five points in the last quarter.
MCUE put numbers behind the ball and were able to steady the ship and record a high-stakes win.
Nick McCormack and Paddy Griffin led the way with big games for MCUE, while Canberra-based duo Dom Bunyan and Jacob Taylor enjoyed their best games for the year.
MCUE coach Jeremy Rowe was happy to get the win but stated the Goannas must improve if they are to be any chance of beating GGGM next week.
"Today was identified as a must-win game on our calendar and having lost two games in a row and Leeton coming in on the back of two wins it was just a matter of getting the job done under any circumstances," Rowe said.
"At times I thought we were quite good and then there were times I thought we were quite poor but full credit to Leeton because they had their fair share of winners across the ground.
"We would want to play much better next week if we want to beat Ganmain."
Ryan Dunn was clearly Leeton-Whitton's best player and he kicked three goals from across half-forward.
Bryce O'Garey played his typical strong game, while Jade Hodge continued his good form with another four goals.
