Leeton scored early on in the match, with South Wagga firing back to record their own goal.
It would be the only time they scored throughout the match as Leeton worked to captalise on the chances they were creating.
Much of this didn't evolve until the second half, according to coach Frank Alampi.
"We started off pretty slow ... we got the goal, but then I thought the first half wasn't our best performance," he said.
"It was 1-all at half-time.

"The second half we did improve, but we can certainly play even better than that."
Alampi said Pablo Quarin and Luke Mandaglio were the two standouts for him on Sunday, but also listed Dan McKenzie and Adam Raso as having played good matches.
Victories each week remain crucial for United, who are clinging to fifth position on the ladder ahead of the finals.
They have Young eager to knock them from their perch in sixth, just one point behind them, and the two sides will face off this weekend.
Alampi said the hard work would continue on the training track this week in the lead up to the crucial clash.
"Every game is a must-win for us from here on out ... but all we can do is take each game as it comes," he said.
